Podloso the virus that wasn’t

Podloso, the iPod virus created by security researchers at Kaspersky Lab, is not likely to become a real threat in the near future; the Podloso virus not only affects iPods only running Linux, but also does not copy itself automatically from one iPod to another. Users would have to install the Podloso virus manually to another iPod.

This type of news reminds me of the reports about “attacks” on cryptographic algorithms that are conducted in such restrictive conditions, that it is impossible to happens in real life. Knudsen and Mirza have a very funny piece about this titled the Deletion Cryptanalysis.
It will be very interesting to see how many people willingly install a virus in their iPod.
